Allow and Appreciate Tool

One of the most important premises of the JUMP! Innovative Change Model™ is the notion that we spend far too much of our time worrying about what we think “should” happen as opposed to allowing what “wants” to happen to come through.

I use the following graphic at the start of my workshops and facilitated leadership sessions to set the tone – there’s a substantial and important distinction between knowing and trusting. When we look for new ideas, when we’re motivated to change, to innovate, to invent – we need to move away from our typical approach where we start from what we know, and move forward from there.

Another of the underpinning foundations of JUMP! has to do with how we manage the energy of any situation – our personal energy, the energy of the group or organization we’re part of, our community, etc. Using the physics principle of resonance (place a vibrating tuning fork near other non-vibrating tuning forks, and eventually all of the tuning forks will vibrate in resonance with the first vibrating tuning fork), the type of energy we bring to a situation – will tend to attract similar energies from the world around us. Frustrated by red light after red light? Guess what, you’ll likely get more red lights. What we invite is what we receive. Want more green lights? Change your energy.

Anyway, one important semantic to look at in the chart – the difference between “problem solving” and “solution finding.” When we “vibrate” to the problem solving frequency, we resonate with problems – and we tend to invite more problems. Simply changing our wording to “solution finding” means we are bringing an entirely different, and FAR more powerful energy to the situation. We “vibrate” to solutions, and we tend to be presented with them.

Knowing is limiting. Trusting is liberating.
